Functional Movement

What is Functional Movement?

The functional movement screening (FMS) is a pre-participation screening tool designed to identify compensatory movement patterns that are indicative of increased injury risk and inefficient movement that causes reduced performance.

Movement screenings

The FMS helps identify muscle asymmetries, tightness, weakness and other risk factors for injury by examining the mobility and stability of the hips, core, shoulders, knees, spine and ankles.

The FMS consists of 7 movements:

The scoring

Joint by Joint theory

Our therapists also use Joint by joint theory to try and fix the pain and dysfunction.
They can also do gait analysis and assess how patients are walking, moving and running to improve movement and weight distribution.

Taping

We can use kinesiology tape for injuries and also posture issues and also ridged tape for stability and support.
