Spinal Manipulation Therapy
Impulse Adjusting is a new technique purposely created to deliver gentle, controlled and precise chiropractic adjustments to the joints of the spine and extremities to relieve pain and restore function.
The Impulse Adjusting Instrument is specifically tuned to the natural frequency of the body, thus allowing the creation of more bone movement with less force. Effective for low force chiropractic adjustments with great results.
There is no popping or cracking with these adjustments, but rather very precise and targeted adjustments designed to specifically care for just the right areas.
This specialised chiropractic technique uses a special table with sections that move up and down under your body to lightly unlock specific segments of your spine. Drop table adjustments allow our chiropractors at ChiroCure Clinic to minimise the force used for the adjustment and avoids any twisting positions.
Flexion distraction therapy is a lighter technique utilising a specialised table that provides flexion and traction to specific areas of the spine to aid in the recreation of lost movement and the decompression and realignment of the spine.
This chiropractic technique is primarily used to manage:
DRY NEEDLING TREATMENTS
Our practitioners education in dry needling is Chiropractic Australia and Osteopathy Australia accredited. Chiropractors and Osteopaths alike, have extensive anatomical knowledge of the body and vast training in the management of neuromusculoskeletal problems, so they are well placed to deliver dry needle therapy.
Patients should enquire during an appointment as to whether or not Dry Needling or Myotherapy would be an appropriate treatment for them.
Our Osteopaths, Chiropractors, and Myotherapist's who practice dry needling, have undergone appropriate postgraduate training beyond their chiropractic degree that allows them to perform dry needling.
Dry Needling Explained
Since dry needling in our practice will be performed by a registered practitioners as part of a comprehensive musculoskeletal treatment program, treatments are eligible for rebates by private health funds with extras cover and benefits.

Starting to get restless and can’t sit still for more than 5 minutes?
Getting some back pain?
There may be many reasons why you answered the above questions with a resounding yes. Moving your workstation home can present many challenges. Whether it’s distractions from kids, Netflix or the need to get outside and exercise one thing that is within your control is your workstation.
With so many of us working from home now, making sure it is well maintained and ergonomically sound can make a huge difference to your spinal health.
First of all, what is Ergonomics? And why is it important?
Ergonomics is the assessment and adaptation of a person’s workspace, products and habits so it suits them specifically. The main components incorporated are your computer screen, keyboard, mouse and chair. It also incorporates the type of tasks and your workplace habits throughout your day.
Below are some great tips to help you assess and modify your home workplace setup and habits to decrease discomfort and improve posture:
Finally… Look after yourself and create some daily habits to follow

At ChiroCure Clinic we are taking every precaution; all currently working staff are being screened and tested weekly, we are screening patients before appointments, limiting the number of clinic appointments, staff are self isolating except for going to work and upholding excellent hygiene.
On top of this we will also be extending our care to include Skype and Telehealth online consultations for chiropractic home care and advice.
Consultations assist with continuity of care and include home care education and personalised rehab programs with prescribed and demonstrated exercises and stretches, monitoring, supplement and sleep advice, ergonomic support and more.

Attention valued patients & friends:
Chiropractic is considered an essential health service.
Because of this, we are currently OPEN as usual.
The role chiropractic has to play in the current climate is one of importance - bearing the load and reducing an influx to the local GPs and or the emergency department.
Chiropractic Care is aimed at helping the nervous system flourish and work optimally. Please note that during this time we will continue to strictly enforce the high cleaning and safety procedures, in addition to thorough screening protocols.
We are receiving constant updates and information from the Australian Health Department and Australian Chiropractors Association.
We understand that you may not be able to physically come into our office, therefore we are offering Online Telehealth Appointments that can be booked either through our website or calling us on (03) 9313 5133.

So, as we all know, Corona Virus is everywhere. People are panicking, buying all the toilet paper they can and ducking for cover when they hear a cough. I thought, it’s not worth panicking, just be smart, practice excellent hygiene habits, especially at work where I see so many different people, people who have different health problems that could put them or their families more at risk of serious complications with this virus.
Then I found out I was potentially exposed to it by someone else. And then I started to get sick, so i followed the guidelines, called the hotline, talked to the GP, got tested and am now self-isolating until I get my results.
While it was a welcome few days off at first, I am already bored and struggling. It is hard to go from speaking to, being around and connected to people every day, to suddenly being by myself. I can’t grab a cup of coffee (HORROR), I can’t go to work (stressful), and I can’t go to the gym (that one might be a relief for now!).
Once I started feeling better, I started trying to do things that were somewhat productive. My room has literally never been this clean, I’ve finished a book I’ve long been meaning to read and have binged a LOT of Netflix.
However, it can be stressful, boring and lonely. I am very thankful for my friends and family, who have been very supportive – offering to bring me food, or just calling for a chat or messaging to check on how I’m doing.
That is the best thing you can do for someone if they are in isolation – let them know they aren’t alone, that you’re there for them if they need someone. If you are the one in isolation, and are feeling this way, reach out to someone. Keep yourself busy, eat healthy fresh food to support your body, keep moving, and if you need to, switch off from all the corona virus news.
We at ChiroCure have been brainstorming ideas on ways we can provide the best support for you, our patients. We know getting adjusted helps the function of your nervous system.
We are taking every precaution we possibly can – cleaning and sanitizing between every patient, encouraging best hygiene practices, education on Corona Virus and following very closely what the government and health groups are saying.
However, for those of you who are unwell or are in isolation, or if you can’t get to our clinic, we are offering online Skype sessions to at least help you get through the next few weeks. These will include rehab exercises, stretches, ergonomic advice for working at home and home care advice, especially those of you in acute or severe pain.
We are happy to listen to your concerns, can answer any questions you may have and make sure you are doing the best exercises for you and properly. We even have personal trainer on board, who is providing consults and PT programs over Skype as well.
If you need to book an appointment, or want to talk to one of us to find out more, please call us on 9013 5133, book online at chirocure.net or jump onto our social media pages.
We have practitioners available for appointments at the clinic every day!
Lower Cross Syndrome / Incorrect Lumbar Curvature
A little about our Myotherapist - Brendon...
Brendon's passion for myotherapy, dry needling, soft tissue work, rehab and recovery was heavily influenced when he injured his own knee as a young child. Brendon not only works with us at ChiroCure Clinic, but also works within a soft tissue Medical treatment team at the Western Bulldogs (AFL), Northern Blues (VFL) & Victoria Fury.
He has completed further training for Myofascial Dry Needling, Cupping & Taping, with a strong passion in the application of taping for sport, function, and prevention. He has a special interest in lower limb conditions, postural dysfunction and pain. He hopes to continue to offer his specialised care to ChiroCure Clinic patients.
Dry Needling Vs Acupuncture
Though those with a sedentary lifestyle are most at risk for the condition, it is not uncommon to find Upper Crossed Syndrome in athletes, particularly swimmers and weight lifters.
Headaches, neck pain and pain in the jaw may point to a case of UCS.
The effects of this condition can harm performance, reducing range of movement and inhibiting the ability to breathe fully due to the reduction of space in the abdomen.
Feet and Ankles: Patients with a pronated, unnaturally rotated or collapsed foot arch will have a joint imbalance occurring in their tibia, femur, ankle joints and pelvis. Misalignment in any of the foot or ankle joints will often cause lumbar discomfort, chronic low back pain or pelvic weakness.
Shoulders: Patients with rounded, flared or uneven shoulders will often have misalignments occurring in their rib joints, clavicle, sternum or shoulder. Misalignment in the shoulders can often be seen during a posture scan. Patients with shoulder dysfunction will often experience upper and middle back pain, headaches, low energy and stiffness. Consistent extremity adjustments in this area can provide quick and effective relief.
Hands and wrists: Patients with misalignment in their hands and wrist may experience joint swelling, tingling, numbness, shooting nerve pain or stiffness. Adjusting the bones in the hand or wrist can bring about instant relief.
Knees and elbows: Just like the hands and wrists, an adjustment in the elbows and knees can result in relief for acute pain, joint swelling, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, clicking, patella dysfunction and meniscus injury.
2. Triple Extension Isometrics (with resistant band)
Start by standing upright in the extended position. Keeping your arms long, neck relaxed and shoulder blades down towards your back pocket. Increase the tension from the band by stepping backwards until you find a challenging yet manageable level. Keep your chin tucked in to avoid the jaw from jutting forward.
Hold for 60 seconds and perform 3-5 x per day. Keep breathing throughout.
4. Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch
Place one foot in front of you and one foot behind you, make sure that your hips are square and that your back foot is in line with your front foot. When in a stable position, attempt to tuck your pelvis under (posteriorly tilt your pelvis) and contract your glut muscles simultaneously (on the same side as the back knee). If this isn’t enough, keep your pelvis tucked under and slowly move your hip away from back foot.
Hold the position for 30-40 seconds 3 x per day. Remain relaxed. The stretch may be uncomfortable but by no means painful.
